(NOTE: to switch from a current random-numbered Purple Heart license plates to a vanity/personalized Purple Heart license plates will cost $29 replacement fee.)

To Apply

• One must provide a copy of the Discharge from Military Service (DD214), or a letter of verification showing your status as a Purple Heart recipient from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs or the federal government.

Availability

• Purple Heart License Plates are multi-year and may be displayed on passenger vehicles, trucks and vans weighing 8,000 pounds or less and sport utility vehicles.
• The surviving spouse of a person awarded a Purple Heart may obtain and/or retain these plates.
• Eligible for Circuit Breaker

Renewal Methods

• The plates can be renewed online, by mail, touch-tone phone, or visit a Driver Services facility.
