• Current plates do not expire within 90 days - $29
  ($29 replacement fee)
• Annual renewal - $99

(NOTE: to switch from a current random-numbered Illinois National Guard license plates to a vanity/personalized Illinois National Guard license plates will cost $29 replacement fee.)

To Apply

• One must provide documentation showing current and/or former guard status. A letter from your commanding officer, DD214 (discharge from military service) verifying National Guard service record or a copy of your orders will be sufficient.
• The request can only be processed in Springfield. Apply in person or mail the proper documentation to:

Availability

• Illinois National Guard license plates are multi-year and may be displayed on passenger vehicles, trucks and vans weighing 8,000 pounds or less and sport utility vehicles.
• Eligible for Circuit Breaker

Renewal Methods

• Illinois National Guard license plates can be renewed by mail or visit a Driver Services facility.
