(NOTE: To switch from a current random-numbered Bronze Star license plates to a vanity/personalized Bronze Star license plates will cost $29 replacement fee.)

To Apply

• One must provide a legible copy of a DD214 (discharge from military service) indicating receipt of the pertinent medal, or a letter of verification from the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs or the federal government verifying service record.

Availability

• Bronze Star license plates are multi-year and may be displayed on passenger vehicles, trucks and vans weighing 8,000 pounds or less and sport utility vehicles.
• The surviving spouse of a person awarded a Bronze Star medal may obtain and/or retain these plates.
• Eligible for Circuit Breaker

Renewal Methods

• Bronze Star license plates can be renewed online, by mail, touch-tone phone, or visit a Driver Services facility.
