Illinois State Library Gateway to Electronic Resources

Electronic Journal Collections

Access to electronic journals is available through several means. The Illinois State Library subscribes to nearly thirty electronic research databases (e.g., Academic Search Premier, Business Source) that offer full-text journal articles online. All of the State Library's subscribed electronic resources are accessible via the Illinois State Library Gateway to Electronic Resources.

The State Library's E-Journal Finder allows you to identify full-text journal and magazine titles that are available online through the library's numerous subscribed research databases. Additionally, multi-journal collections from publishers, research database vendors, etc. to which the Illinois State Library subscribes are listed below. Keep in mind that full-text access and date coverage varies by individual journal title, as well as from one database to another. Therefore, you may find it necessary to search multiple research databases and E-journal collections.

You may also use the State Library's Citation Linker to locate a specific journal, or to find an article if you have a complete or partial citation. Simply fill out the form with the article information you have and let the Citation Linker search for the article in the State Library's online content.

Note: Remote access to the State Library's subscribed electronic resources is restricted to current Illinois State Government Employees with a valid Illinois State Library card, and requires authentication by entering a 14-digit library ID number (located on the back of the library card) and a last name. Due to the licensing restrictions of some vendors, there are several research databases that are not available to users from outside the library.
