Morgan County

Established
January 31, 1823 (Laws, 1823, p. 108.)

Origin of the name of the county
Named for Daniel Morgan, a General of the Revolution, who, as commander of the "Rifle Brigade," served with distinction at Quebec, Saratoga, the Cowpens, and other important engagements.
